My grandfather had a workshop in the basement of the home with my grandmother and left behind a rotary table-top phone with the red Dynamo label reading “Hello”. The body shows the well-worn luster of years of use, the finger-hole edges shiny from thousands of phone calls made. I imagined a call in progress with him setting down the receiver, looking for my grandmother to say “hello” to a person on the other end of the line.
